As part of the Ajman Tourism Development Department's "People of Determination" Initiative

A selection of candidates who participated in the "The People of Determination" initiative, a programme launched by the Ajman Tourism Development Department (ATDD) earlier this year, have been successfully employed.

The initiative, which was launched under the patronage of Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Chairman of the ATDD, in collaboration with the Ministry of Community Development, trained candidates in business management, accounting, administrative and technical work at the ATDD, the Ajman Executive Council and some of Ajmans’ leading hotels. The training was concluded at an official closing ceremony on the 16th of July in the presence of His Highness Sheikh Ammar Bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Crown Prince of Ajman, as well as senior officials from a number of supporting departments and organisations at the Ajman’s Rulers court.

Commenting on the success of the initiative, HE Saleh Mohamed Al Geziry, Director General of the ATDD, said: “The People of Determination” initiative is a means of empowering people of determination by enabling them to learn new skills and explore their potential. The success of the programme is testament to the efforts made by the participating government and private organisations, who I would like to extend my deepest gratitude to. Furthermore, I would like to commend the participants for their enthusiasm and willingness to learn. The success of this initiative is a success for Ajman and reflects the emirate’s ongoing efforts to implement and support initiatives that promote inclusivity and growth.”

The initiative is in line with the ATDD’s CSR plans and programmes, through which the department aims to fulfill its responsibility towards the community, by contributing to the integration of people of determination into society and supporting Emiratisation.

“The late founding father Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan (May Allah rest his soul in peace) is the world’s pioneer of humanitarian work and his example of caring for all segments of society, specifically people of determination, is the inspiration behind this initiative. Aimed at promoting the culture of inclusivity and knowledge sharing, the programme also comes in line with the Year of Giving, and serves to instil the culture of giving in future generations by achieving solidarity and serving the interests of all people. Our commitment is attributed to the UAE’s wise leadership and its efforts to overcome the challenges faced by people of determination. Its success serves as encouragement to continue the programme on an annual basis,” Al Geziry added.

A number of participating organisations, such as the Ajman Tourism Development Department and the Fairmont Ajman, took over their trainee and offered a full time employment at the end of the programme.

Francis Dejardins, General Manager of the Fairmont Ajman concluded by stating: “At Fairmont Ajman we are happy to support and drive the initiative to integrate people of determination further. Supporting local community and developing a robust CSR strategy is in line with the AccorHotels sustainability program Planet21, and we see a strong involvement of the team to do so. In fact, one of the participants after successful completion of one-month internship became a permanent member of Fairmont Ajman family. It is a great example of success in providing opportunities as well as empowering people of determination to succeed in job market.”
