ATDD Signs MoU With DTCM To Join Dubai Fitness Challenge (3 November 2018)

Ajman Tourism Development Department (ATDD) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (Dubai Tourism) with regards to participating in the Dubai Fitness Challenge on October 31st. The initiative was launched last year by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council, and this year it will be held from October 26th to November 24th, 2018.

ATDD’s 30-day program includes a variety of activities such as a Flyboard Championship, a Jet Ski Marathon, Yoga, CrossFit and Zumba. The sports park in Al Hameedeya, Ajman has been designated a fitness village to encourage residents, visitors and employees to adopt a healthy and active lifestyle.

Sheikh Abdul Aziz bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, ATDD Chairman, said: “First, I would like to thank His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum for launching this innovative challenge to stimulate positive competition and encourage all members of society to pursue a healthy lifestyle.”

He added: “In keeping with our wise leadership’s vision to make sports part of the culture in the UAE, we have accepted the Dubai Fitness Challenge, which aims to make sports part of everyday life and is in line with Ajman’s goal of developing tourism, the community, the economy and sports. We will ensure that all ATDD employees participate in this leading initiative.”

HE Saleh Mohamed Al Geziry, ATDD Director General, said: “We are pleased to collaborate with Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (Dubai Tourism) and to participate in the Dubai Fitness Challenge, which is in line with ATDD’s plan to promote leisure and sports activities and to attract as many visitors as possible.”

His Excellency added: “Our goal is for all government and private sector employees to take part in the challenge, and we will continue to raise employees’ awareness about the importance of sports and making it part of everyone’s everyday life. Sports plays an important role in helping to promote a healthy and vibrant lifestyle and raising positive energy. ATDD will provide all support necessary to encourage staff to achieve this goal.”

His Excellency thanked His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum for launching this challenge, which encourages all members of society to adopt a healthy lifestyle in a fun atmosphere with diverse activities.

ATDD has been in contact with the relevant government agencies and sports clubs in the Emirate in order to coordinate efforts and upgrade sports programmes to meet the challenge.

ATDD extends its sincere thanks and appreciation to sponsors and supporters of the sports activities arranged at the Dubai Fitness Challenge, including Ajman Free Zone, Ajman Media City Free Zone, Ajman Police General Command, the Municipality and Planning Department, Thumbay Hospital, Amina Hospital, Pocari Sweat, and Almarai Company. ATDD also thanks the sports organisations and other establishments participating in the challenge, which are the UAE Marine Sports Federation, Quattro Sports Center, Ajman Equestrian Club, and Quest for Adventure, Elite Gym, Endurance Sports Services, Al Zorah Golf Club, Pink Ladies Games, Ajman Ladies Club, Ajman Youth Centre, Umm Al Moumineen Women's Association, and Emirates Vision Media Network.
