In The Presence Of ATDD’s Director General, The GCAA Presents The Fairmont Ajman With A Heliport Certificate Certification Will Benefit Ajman’s Tourism Sector (31 December 2018)
The General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) presented the Fairmont Ajman hotel with a certificate authorising the hotel to use its helipad for commercial purposes. A ceremony was held at the Fairmont Ajman’s helipad at 11 am on Sunday.
The ceremony was attended by several VIPs including HE Saleh Mohamed Al Geziry, Director General of Ajman Tourism Development Department (ATDD); Ismaeil Mohammed Al Blooshi, Assistant Director General of Aviation Safety Affairs; Sultan AlShamsi, Aerodrome Operation Inspector; Abdulrahman AlQemzi, Rescue and Firefighting Services Inspector; Captain George Prentzas, Falcon Aviation’s Chief Pilot Onshore and VIP Operations and Accountable Manager; and Luca Bandecchi, Vice-Chairman of the Hospitality Committee at SBK Holding.
His Excellency said, “We congratulate the Fairmont Ajman on receiving the GCAA’s Heliport Certificate, and we are confident that this will benefit the tourism sector in our emirate. Ajman is flourishing as a tourism destination; between January and September 2018, the number of guests at Ajman’s hotels grew by an impressive 13% and total revenue rose by 6% to AED 330 million.”
To ensure that heliport operators can meet their obligations, the GCAA must be satisfied that all regulatory and critical safety elements have been addressed before issuing a Heliport Certificate.
