Ajman Crown Prince Launches ’ISO City Data Initiative’ (1 May 2019)

H.H. Sheikh Ammar bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Crown Prince of Ajman and Chairman of the Ajman Executive Council, today launched the "ISO City Data Initiative 2019," in cooperation with the World Council on City Data, WCCD, during a ceremony organised by the Ajman Statistics and Competitiveness Centre.

During the launch, Sheikh Ammar also reviewed the successes of the 2018 initiatives of H.H. Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ajman, and Ajman’s advancement in the "Practicing Business Report 2019" issued by the World Bank.

"We must predict the future, continue our efforts to improve the work of our government, and benefit from reports issued by international organisations that will help us evaluate and improve the performance of our institutions and facilitate the practising of business in the emirate, to make us an advanced country, in line with the UAE Vision 2021 and the Ajman Vision 2021," Sheikh Ammar said.

The ceremony began with the arrival of Sheikh Ammar, followed by the national anthem. The results of the World Bank report was then presented, which highlighted the fact that the emirate placed first in the Arab world and fifth internationally in terms of property registration, a 2.4 point difference from the first place internationally. It also placed second in the Arab world and 14th internationally in terms of commercial activity, construction licencing, property registration and contract enforcement, after placing 35th in 2016.

Sheikh Ammar and the other attendees witnessed a presentation on Sheikh Humaid’s initiatives, including a study on widowed and divorced women, people of determination and renters. He then officially launched the initiative.

At the end of the ceremony, Sheikh Ammar, accompanied by Dr. Hajar Saeed Al Hubaishi and Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Chairman of the Supreme Census Committee, honoured the government authorities that attained leading places in Arab and international ease of practising business indexes, which are the Department of Land and Real Estate Regulation, the Municipality and Planning Department, and the Ajman Federal Court of First Instance. He then honoured the family that won the "Childhood Happiness Study Raffle."

He also honoured the strategic partners of the initiative, which are the General Command of the Ajman Police, the Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi Charity Foundation, the Federal Competitiveness and Statistics Authority, the Ajman Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Ajman Free Zone, the Department of Economic Development, the Contact Centre, the Ajman Sporting Club, Ajman News, Kafaat International, and Festival Land Ajman.

The initiative’s staff, who are the Ajman Plus Studies Team, the Labour Force and Foreign Investment Team, the Annual and Quarterly Economic Scan Team, the Opinion Polls and Specialist Studies Team, and the Ajman Statistics and Competitiveness Centre Team, were also honoured.
