With the launch of the UAE innovates week held from 21-27 February 2021, Ajman Tourism Development Department (ATDD) launched a series of projects, initiatives, workshops, and competitions aiming to highlight innovation in the tourism and hospitality sectors in the emirate of Ajman.

With 2021 being the UAE's golden jubilee, celebrating 50 years since the nation's birth, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, and ruler of Dubai, inaugurated the official "UAE Innovates Week" celebrating "50 Years of Imagination, 50 Years of Inspiration and 50 years of Inclusion" as a nation-wide event taking place throughout the country.

Being winner of the Innovation Management Pillar in the emirate under the Government Excellence Award, ATDD has developed a calendar targeting employees and stakeholders of the tourism and hospitality industries with the aim of incubating innovative and creative thinking around the industry.

Focusing on the tourism and hospitality sector, Ajman's innovation week invites innovators to share their "moonshot concept and vision" as part of the ideation process through their participation in "Together We Innovate" challenge.

Other activities include "The Launch of The Dreamer or Doer Team" comprising various members of the Industry, "Tawwer" event that aims at nurturing students' talents and offering them support to make their dreams come true with the concerned authorities, and "Innovation Lab with Ajman Youth Center. ATDD is also seeking the community's feedback on its "XProject" that will be revealed at al later stage.  

HE Saleh Mohamed Al Geziry, ATDD Director General, praised ATDD's team for their efforts, which contributed to the success of the initiatives and events organised in line with the objectives of UAE Innovates week by promoting a culture of innovation in the Emirate of Ajman in particular and in the UAE in general. The team's efforts helped to strengthen Ajman status as a global hub for innovation with the aim of positioning the UAE as the most innovative country in the world.

Al Geziry said, "UAE Innovation week is a unique initiative that expands the intellectual and creative horizons of institutions and individuals. It is an embodiment of the UAE's wise leadership's directive to create a society equipped with science, knowledge and technology in order to develop innovative concepts. As this is Golden Jubilee of the UAE, the innovation month aims to highlight 50 years of innovation from a nation that has set a standard as a smart government on par with the biggest nations in the world."

The week starts with the Challenge where Innovator hopefuls will need to submit the "Scope, Objective and targeted segments" of their concept by Participating in the "Together We Innovate" challenge to meet the challenges of developing the tourism sector via email to atddinnovation@ajmantourism.ae by February 24th with the winners being announced on February 27th.
