Ramada Ajman Launches Urban Farming To Observe Earth Day (25 April 2013)
Joins the rest of the world to raise awareness towards a cleaner, greener community
Ramada Hotel & Suites Ajman, a premier destination for business and leisure travellers, launches an urban farming project to raise awareness on the importance of a clean, green and healthy community, in observance of Earth Day 2013.
The property allotted 430 square meters of its vast parking space to an urban farm growing seasonal vegetables and crops, which can be of use in the hotel’s kitchen. A team from the hotel was selected to look after the farm during assigned periods to ensure that the farm is well taken care of and usual hotel operation will not be disrupted.
Iftikhar Hamdani, General Manager, said: “This urban farm is another groundbreaking project of the property which will help not only the hotel but also the environment. We intend to nurture this garden all year round and not just during Earth Day, and plan to take this initiative to a larger scale. In addition, we want to impart a message to all industry professionals that all of us have a role to play in preserving and nurturing our environment and this can be achieved through determination and commitment.”
With more than one billion supporters, Earth Day is observed every 22nd April in more than 100 countries. The movement started in 1970 in the United States as an initiative to fight for a cleaner, greener and safer environment for the future generations.
