The Ajman Palace Hotel Hosts Electricity & Water Consumption Award (24 August 2015)
The Ajman Palace Hotel recently hosted the Emirates Conservation Award for Electricity and Water Consumption, organised under the patronage of His Excellency Suheil Al-Mazroui, Minister of Energy and Chairman of Board of Directors of the Federal Electricity and Water Authority.
The Federal Electricity and Water Authority (FEWA) honoured 18 families for their effective participation in the nationwide rationalization award, and cutting consumption by up to 80 per cent during the first three months of 2015. The competition, held under the theme Change Is Possible, witnessed substantial participation from the FEWA consumers. The most rationalising FEWA consumers were awarded with lucrative prize money ranging from Dh10,000 for the first prize to Dh7,000 for the second prize and Dh5,000 for the third prize.
The event was attended by a number of senior officials from various government departments and strategic partners who lauded FEWA's efforts to conserve precious natural resources.
Ferghal Purcell, General Manager of The Ajman Palace Hotel, said that such concerted efforts will help reduce the average consumption of water and electricity in the country, which is extremely high compared to the average consumption rate worldwide.
He said, The Emirates Conservation Award is a commendable effort made by the Federal Electricity and Water Authority to promote conservation of water and electricity, and instill the values of rationalisation in young generations. This effort should be supported by one and all as it will play a significant role in preserving these precious natural resources for the future generations. I am confident it will grow further to become one of the must-attend campaigns for everyone who believes in their civic responsibilities.
Stressing that The Ajman Palace Hotel has set itself a tough target of reducing its electricity and water consumption by 20 per cent by 2020, he urged everyone to be part of this promising drive towards making a positive impact on the environment.
