Ajman’s development plans provide facilities to investors who are willing to establish their tourism projects in the emirate
A burgeoning tourism proposition is emerging in Ajman, aided by a host of new developments and hotel openings. New niche destinations, retail expansions, and a wide selection of new indoor and outdoor activities are helping to put the emirate on the map and attract an increasing number of visitors – 153,464 in the first quarter of 2018, in fact.
His Excellency Saleh Mohamed Al Geziry, Director General, Ajman Tourism Development Department (ATDD) said: “A fantastic selection of new tourist attractions have opened, or are underway, in Ajman. This is helping to highlight the emirate's many landmarks as well as the assortment of resorts, hotels, and new tours available to visitors.”
The Emirate of Ajman has emerged as a hub for new development and the tourism sector continues to excel with the opening of a number of new resorts, such as the luxury five-star eco-destination, Oberoi Beach Resort Al Zorah. The Radisson Blu Ajman and Wyndham Garden Ajman Corniche were also recently added to the growing list of hospitality landmarks in the emirate. ATDD also signed an MOU today with prestigious real estate pioneers Al Janahi Real Estate Center and TIME Hotels Management. Both recognize the opportunities this agreement will offer Ajman in terms of providing sustainable and economic development, and hospitality solutions to manage the demands arising from tourism growth on the emirate.
On the retail front, major flagship projects to have opened recently include Ajman Cubes, Al Zorah Marina 1, and Ajman Festival Land.
Ajman Qubes spearheads the advent of sustainable architecture in Ajman under the visionary patronage of H.H Sheikh Ammar Bin Humaid Bin Rashid Al Nuaimi. Ajman Cubes attracts innovation to the emirate, providing a co-working space where young energetic entrepreneurs can conceive and bring their ideas to fruition within a supportive environment that serves as a network of creativity, where abstraction finds clarity amongst a collection of bright and dedicated minds. Ajman Qubes is home to a growing community of entrepreneurs, and since its introduction, approximately 10 locally-grown, UAE concepts have launched including restaurants, cafes, the first Arabic art gallery and a spa.
The recently-launched Al Zorah Marina 1, a 100,000 square-metre creek side development, is home to a recreational park, a multitude of food & beverage outlets, and entertainment venues for all age-groups. Marina 1’s close proximity to neighbouring marinas throughout the UAE and the region, enjoys unparalleled open views to two million square-metres of natural preserved mangroves, long, white sand beaches, and azure lagoons. Nestled within 247 acres of protected forest, Al Zorah boasts exceptional biodiversity and is home to nearly sixty species of bird. Al Zorah also offers world-class berthing and rescue services for boats and yachts between 8 and 40 metres.
Projected to attract one million visitors in its first year, Ajman Festival Land is a shopping, entertainment and events destination, which opened in November 2017 and is spread over 90,000 square-metres in the heart of Ajman.
In terms of the rich variety of cuisine available within the emirate, Ajman has expanded its selection of restaurants, offering local and traditional cuisine, as well as the introduction of food festivals whose aim is to highlight and celebrate food native to the region. One new addition is the Marsa Ajman Cruise Floating Restaurant which offers tourists a two-hour culinary cruise through Ajman Marina, with magnificent views of the Ajman mangroves.
For the trend-setter, Ajman now offers regular flights on the Cessna 208 Caravan Seaplanes over Ajman on a per person basis, taking in the iconic sights of the emirate in the process. The new seaplane service not only offers a unique form of transport, and a unique sightseeing opportunity with impressive views, but has also opened up a new gateway to a significantly important domestic tourism segment.
Based at Al Zorah Marina 1, the 37-metre luxury yacht NORDIC STAR is available for charter for a variety of purposes, from dockside business meetings and full day excursions, to week-end cruises. The Italian-built classic yacht has an extraordinary history as a centre of entertainment during Hollywood’s heyday, and retains much of the original furniture, glamour and luxury that inspired film stars such as Frank Sinatra and Tony Curtis.
Golf enthusiasts will enjoy the 18-hole championship course at Al Zorah, designed by Nicklaus Design, the company of legendary 18-time Major Champion - Jack Nicklaus, set within a stunning natural environment, with flowing dunes and an in-land Mangrove area.
Family attractions include Aqua Bounce, Ajman’s first-ever floating water-park located on the premises of the Fairmont Ajman hotel, which welcomed visitors earlier this month.
One of Ajman’s newest attractions for water sport thrill seekers is the Cable Park in Al Zorah. Cable wakeboarding caters to all levels of experience and involves holding onto a rope attached to a cable mechanism, whilst standing on a board. The cable takes you around a circuit, often laid out with ramps and other obstacles.
Ajman stands out as a unique destination for tourism investment, with a vast array of investment opportunities in key tourism sectors such as medical tourism, sport tourism, business tourism and leisure tourism. The emirate has current and future plans to develop more leisure and tourism projects and will provide facilities to investors who are willing to establish their tourism projects in the emirate.
