Liwa Ajman Dates Festival Introduces Cultural Heritage And Activates Tourism (21 July 2018)
Starting on 25 July and Lasting for Four Days
Ajman Tourism Development Department (ATDD) has announced the launch of the fifth edition of the Liwa Ajman Dates Festival (2018) under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Ajman. The Fesitval is slated to runfor four days from July 25 to 28, in Emirates Hospitality Center Hall.
The Festival includes many events and activities aiming to revive the heritage and celebrate the ancient customs and traditions of the UAE in a festive atmosphere full of fun activities for the whole family. The Festival is the largest exhibition of the finest palm products in the UAE, with dozens of farmers displaying the best and finest types of dates.
Saud Al Jasmi, director of event department at ATDD, said, “The Festival is an important tourist attraction, especially as it carries heritage importance and symbolic significance, and includes many cultural and tourism events. It is expected to attract more than 15 thousand visitors, especially from the local and Gulf region. It is an opportunity for residents and visitors to get to know the UAE’s deep-rooted heritage and traditions.”
Al Jasmi, added, “The Festival coincides with the Year of Zayed, so it offers us an ideal opportunity to highlight the efforts of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, may God rest his soul, to preserve the heritage and legacy of the UAE.”
The Festival, which promotes UAE heritage, aims to attract visitors and tourists, whie encouraging the natural conservation and care of palm trees. The Festival is open from 10:00 am to 11:00 pm on Wednesday, and opens Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 4:00 pm to 11:00am.
