Interactive maps launched in Ajman (15 September 2018)
H.H. Sheikh Ammar bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Crown Prince of Ajman, and Chairman of the emirate's Executive Council, has launched an interactive maps initiative, a project of the Ajman Statistics and Competitiveness Centre, which seeks to transform the emirate's data from the macro to mezzo level.
Rolled out with the support of the Ajman Statistics and Competitiveness Centre, the initiative will provide statistics, data and indexes regarding local communities which all decision-makers can use to conduct comparisons between communities and neighbourhoods in one city or among other cities in the emirate.
Dr Hajir Al Habishi, Executive Director of the centre, said the initiative is part of the government’s efforts to establish an integrated data and statistics management system which will allow access to statistical statements in an open and transparent manner.
She announced the launch of an interactive map on the centre's website which shows statistical indexes in forms of maps and infographics.
''The first phase covered data collected in the Ajman Census 2017,'' she stated.
''Decision-makers and planners will have access to indexes of economic, social and environmental variations for different parts of the emirates so they can chart strategic plans and programmes for improvement of living standards and life quality in the long run.
