ATDD Will Host The Old School Challenge On Friday (20 March 2019)

Under the patronage and in the presence of Sheikh Abdul Aziz bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Chairman of Ajman Tourism Development Department (ATDD), ATDD will host the third Old School Challenge in cooperation with Power Fit Gym on Friday 22 March at Al Zorah Marina 1, Ajman.

The event is being organised with the participation of Ajman Police, Dubai Police, Dubai Customs, the Knowledge and Human Development Authority, the Ministry of Interior, the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship and du. ATDD organises the Old School Challenge as part of its strategy to boost tourism and leisure in Ajman by offering an increasing number of activities, festivals and events to attract visitors of all nationalities and ages.

The Old School Challenge aims to introduce the UAE’s heritage and ancestral customs and traditions in an innovative way. The event will include a variety of family-friendly activities such as a children’s race, a heritage village, popular folklore shows and restaurants serving Emirati food.

HE Saleh Mohamed Al Geziry, ATDD Director General, said, “Leisure, sports and cultural activities are important to tourism promotion. By organising the Old School Challenge, ATDD aims to ensure sustainable growth in the tourism sector and to enhance the roles of the family and domestic tourists in sustainable development.”

His Excellency added, “The aim of this event is to present the UAE’s heritage in a way that will appeal to the current generation. This Challenge is an opportunity for citizens and residents to appreciate and acknowledge the obstacles that previous generations had to overcome.”

Led by Sheikh Abdul Aziz, competitors of all ages from the UAE and beyond will take part in the Challenge, which includes a 10 km course with 30 obstacles inspired by the UAE’s heritage; a 5 km course with 20 obstacles; and a 1 km course for children.

This event is sponsored by the management of Al Zorah Project, Thumbay Hospital, Amina Hospital, Medcare Medical Centre, Dubai Land Department, Ajman Police General Headquarters, Pocari Sweat and Almarai Juices.
