The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) has completed the interconnection between the Federal Network (FEDnet), and the network of the Digital Government of Ajman, to activate government services between local and federal entities, and facilitate access to information, which would allow comprehensive service provision to customers. This is in line with TRA’s directives to improve the quality of ICT services in the UAE, to keep pace with the technological developments of ICT sector, and achieve leadership in the country’s smart technological infrastructure.

The interconnection with Ajman Digital Government is a continuation of TRA’s efforts aiming at achieving a comprehensive national electronic interconnection including local electronic government. The vision of TRA is to make the UAE a world leader in ICT, which requires the provision of the necessary infrastructure for the systems’ integration between government entities on local and federal levels, as well as facilitating customers’ access to services, through enhancing information and data sharing according to the highest standards of digital safety and security, as well as the role of the interconnection in rationalizing the financial expenditure of government entities.

Interconnection with local entities is an added-value to governmental work. It contributes to enhancing the efficiency of the mGovernment on the state level, achieves customer happiness through facilitating the procedures, and benefiting from the smart transformation potentials. Therefore, TRA works to integrate local governments networks, to reach a more comprehensive and effective network.

On this topic, H.E. Hamad Obaid Al Mansoori, TRA Director General, welcomed the Digital Ajman Government joining of the FEDnet, saying: ‘By joining FEDnet, Ajman Digital Government has achieved another step towards interconnection and integration, which enhances the effectiveness of government services and customer happiness. We are pleased with this development, which contributes to the enhancement of the e-lifestyle, and creates the suitable environment for the success of the government directives in interconnection, integration and quality which would facilitate the transition towards knowledge-based economy, and the post-oil era, and reaching international leadership in the ICT sector, which is the key for development and efficiency of all sectors.

H.E. Al Mansoori reflected that the interconnection between FEDnet and various local government networks creates a secure environment for information sharing, along with ensuring a high-tech supervision and developed infrastructure, which maintains the quick and easy flow of information, as well as saving technical and operational costs necessary for activating the interconnection between each federal or local entity and the other. He added that TRA is close to completing electronic interconnection and the smart transformation process in the country.

H.E. Ohood Al Shuhail, Director General of Ajman Digital Government, expressed her appreciation for the cooperation with TRA, in completing the interconnection between FEDnet and AJnet, to achieve the wise leadership vision in meeting and covering all the needs of the citizens, residents and government entities. She said: ‘We are concerned with achieving the concept of smart government that allows everyone to receive government services from anywhere in the country, at any time, and that government services are easy and fast and full of interaction between the government and the customers. This would not be possible without interconnection among all in the country.’

H.E. Al Shuhail affirmed that this interconnection reflects the two sides’ keenness to enhance cooperation, unify efforts and integrate visions and objectives, as well as confirms the unified goal of serving UAE Vision 2021, and the government directions towards the comprehensive digital government.

In turn, Eng. Hamad Ibrahim Al Blooshi, the Project Manager, explained that this interconnection is the third of its kind in the country, indicating that the digital government is striving to meet the needs of government entities in Ajman to support the digital transformation plan, which would contribute to the vision of the Government of Ajman 2021. Al Blooshi stressed that coordinating efforts and enhancing joint action between the two sides would achieve many common goals.

FEDnet project is one of the key strategic initiatives of TRA. It provides infrastructure for the provision of smart government services to all institutions and customers in the UAE. FEDnet enhances efficiency, capability, reliability and security levels, in order to provide common services and solutions to all government entities as well as customers in the UAE.
