Ajman Highlights Digital Transformation Journey At WSIS 2019 (13 April 2019)

Ajman Digital Government has participated in the World Summit on the Information Society, WSIS 2019, which took place from 8th to 12th April in Geneva.

Ajman Digital Government took part in the event as part of a UAE delegation, led by the Telecommunications and Regulatory Authority.

Ohoud Shehail, Director-General of Ajman Digital Government who headed the 'First Digital Government in UAE', and awarded by the UAE Pioneers Award for its feat, presented 'First Digital Government in UAE - An evolutionary Journey of Ajman’s Digital Transformation' at WSIS 2019.

During the session, Shehail noted the emirate's digital transformation was guided by Ajman's leadership and the UAE Vision 2021, that aims to ensure an inclusive society utilising green economies. She explained that a happy community is the core of Ajman's digital services eco-system.

Shehail also took part in a high-level policy session on 'Enabling Environment', where she pointed out, "The typical government-centric approach shifting to a customer-centric approach is not an option any more but rather a must." She cited examples of the Ajman Ambassadors Network and Ajman Living Lab, customer-centric initiatives co-designed with users.

She strongly recommended that a common platform should be co-created to address the issues arising through the jurisdiction on the privacy policies because they differ from country to country; therefore a global index would bring them at par.

Commenting on her participation at WSIS, Shehail expressed her delight in taking part in one of the largest global forums for the ICT community. "We exchanged expertise and showcased our experience in a pioneering digital transformation in Ajman and UAE’s contribution to the global scale of ICT."
