Ajman Tourism Development Department (ATDD) and Public Transport Corporation celebrated the United Arab Emirates’ 48th National Day at Martyrs' Square (Flag Park) in Al Jurf area from 4:00 pm to 10:00 pm on November 27th to December 3rd, attracting sizeable crowds of individuals and families. The seven days of celebrations reflected the UAE’s distinctive heritage, customs and traditions.

The celebrations opened with the national anthem then traditional bands performed national and folklore songs to an enthusiastic response from the audience. The programme included a corner commemorating martyrs, special events for children, heritage competitions for the public, folklore performances, displays of crafts, a barn corner and a variety of events and activities inspired by the UAE’s history.

In celebration of the occasion, Sheikh Abdul Aziz bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, ATDD Chairman, extended his greetings and congratulations to His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, to His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, to His Highness Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Ajman, and to the Rulers of the Emirates, the Crown Princes, Deputy Rulers and the people of the UAE, praying for our wise leadership’s success in all their endeavours for the nation and its citizens and residents.

Sheikh Abdul Aziz said, “The UAE is witnessing comprehensive development and we are positive that we are moving steadily towards a promising future and the realisation of the UAE Centennial plan under the wise leadership. There is no limit to ambition and aspirations – from our leadership, we have learned generosity and sacrifice for the sake of our country and its people, who enjoy success in different fields of work.”

HE Saleh Mohamed Al Geziry, ATDD Director General, said, “The National Day celebration reinforces our loyalty and belonging to this precious country. We hope that the UAE will continue its journey of development, progress, prosperity and welfare and that the UAE will excel in terms of all international indicators in all areas under the wise leadership.”

His Excellency added, “Thanks to the vision and directives of His Highness Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Ajman, today the emirate of Ajman has a prominent position on the regional and international tourism map. The tourism sector plays a significant role in supporting the GDP of Ajman in particular and the UAE in general, and Ajman has become one of the pillars of the nation’s development.”

The celebrations attracted large numbers of families and individuals, including both citizens and residents who flocked to Flag Park to enjoy folklore performances and participate in the country’s joy.
