Ajman Tourism Development Department (ATDD) is at ITB Berlin from March 6th-10th promoting the Emirate and its diverse tourism attractions, activities and events. More than 180 countries are represented at the world’s leading travel trade show this year, with attendees including international travel agencies, tourism authorities and hoteliers. ATDD is meeting with investors and industry experts to exchange ideas and explore global trends, developments and innovations.
HE Saleh Mohamed Al Geziry, ATDD Director General, said, “At ITB Berlin 2019, ATDD is raising awareness about Ajman’s existing offerings in the leisure and hospitality sectors and introducing new projects. For example, we launched the Modama Award last December in order to encourage sustainable tourism in the UAE. The Award will recognise efforts to implement our wise leadership’s vision for sustainable development and the move towards a green economy.”
ATDD’s efforts to promote the emirate have proven very effective; Ajman is attracting an increasing number of local, regional and international visitors. Last year, the Emirate’s total revenue from tourism and hospitality rose by 2% to AED 467 million.
His Excellency added, “Both the United Kingdom and Germany are important markets; to introduce the UK travel trade to Ajman, we opened our first overseas office in the UK last year and appointed Scott Marketing Ltd to highlight our destination’s diverse offerings. ATDD has agreements with leading tour operators, including TUI Germany, FTI Germany and KUONI UK.”
ATDD is also showcasing the emirate’s business potential. The government of Ajman provides a range of facilities to encourage investors to take advantage of investment opportunities in the medical, sports, business and leisure tourism sectors.
