Ajman University Earns Spot, Again, on QS Rankings List of Top 150 Universities Under 50 Years

Ajman University (AU) made it happen again! For the second year in a row, AU has earned a spot among the top 150 universities under 50 years within QS World University Rankings of the “Top 50 Under 50.” Only 8 institutions in the UAE and a total of 13 universities in the Arab World earned a spot on the extended list, released in July 2019. “I am incredibly proud that AU continues to have a place in the top 150 universities under 50,” said Chancellor Karim Seghir. “This is the amazing outcome of the diligent efforts and exemplary dedication of all our stakeholders.”

The complete list of “Top 150 under 50” is available at topuniversities.com. First published in 2012, QS Rankings of the best universities under 50 allows some of the world’s top young universities to shine.

Ajman University has shined brightly in several of the most recent QS Rankings reports. With the launch of the 2020 QS World University Rankings (QSWUR) in June came the news that AU is now ranked among the top 800 institutions worldwide. Moving up from last year’s debut, AU has secured a position in the top 2.8% of universities worldwide and the top 1.7% of institutions in the Arab world.

Notably, the 2020 QSWUR also listed AU as having the 4th most international faculty and 6th most international students in the entire world. These results, explained Chancellor Seghir, “served as yet another landmark milestone in the pioneering 31-year history of AU – the inaugural private university in the GCC and the first institution in the UAE to accept expatriate students.”

The 2020 QS Best Student Cities shows that the Dubai/Sharjah/Ajman region now shares the 60th spot in the world with the city of Brno in the Czech Republic. Once again, AU’s region was the highest ranked location in the Arab world. Students surveyed for the report praised these UAE cities for “a sense of belonging” and “being a welcoming place” and for offering “the best opportunity for higher education and to learn about multiple cultures.”

Earlier this year, the QS Intelligence Unit awarded AU with the highest possible ratings – Five QS Stars – for Social Responsibility, Inclusiveness, and Learning Environment. AU also earned Four QS Stars for Teaching and Internationalization.
